While you may not be able to do everything they can, you can certainly do some of those things. And they all make a difference. <\/p>\n
So take a minute to see what some of our leading celebrities are doing to save energy and reduce their environmental impact \u2013 and apply what you can: <\/p>\n
1. Lisa Ling, a Leading Television Journalist<\/strong><\/p>\n Lisa\u2019s home is the first carbon-neutral one in all of Santa Monica. That you may not be able to pull off. <\/p>\n However, she uses all LED lights (completely within your reach \u2013 just wait until your store has them on special), has great insulation (may take a couple years to audit and install yours), and uses zero-VOC paint. <\/p>\n You can easily do all those things within just a few years \u2013 or even sooner. <\/p>\n 2. Julia Louis-Dreyfus<\/strong><\/p>\n The former Seinfeld star goes all out with energy savings. She uses natural daylighting to illuminate her home. You may be able to replicate that to a small degree without totally breaking the bank. <\/p>\n She also has rooftop photovoltaic cells, which are becoming more affordable these days. Her energy-efficient appliances, however, are easily within your reach. You simply have to do your research before making a purchase. <\/p>\n 3. Tricia Helfer<\/strong><\/p>\n You only know who she is if you watched Battlestar Galactica. She was certainly popular to sci-fi fans. <\/p>\n Anyway, Tricia has an entirely off-the-grid home. That may not be doable for most. <\/p>\n However, she does use rainwater collection systems to provide for her water needs. You can start simply by using a barrel to collect rainwater for gardening or watering your lawn, for example. <\/p>\n She also has masonry heaters (also called a ceramic heater), which periodically burn a fuel and then radiate the heat at a constant temperature for a longer period of time. <\/p>\n
