Switch Off Devices When You Leave a Room<\/b><\/h4>\n

This age-old tip is one of the simplest ways to get your family involved in energy savings. It only takes a couple of extra seconds and some mindfulness. First, teach your kids about how items that are switched on use energy, even if no one is in the room using them. This is true for lights, fans and other electronics. Your AC accounts for most of your home\u2019s power consumption, especially during the hot summer months. While it\u2019s tempting to drop it to a chill 70\u00b0F, this causes your bill to jump. It\u2019s recommended to keep your thermostat set at 78\u00b0F in the summertime to save electricity. Tell your child that this is your family\u2019s goal, and encourage them to keep a checklist or chart where they can track the thermostat setting throughout the day. Close the Door!<\/b><\/h4>\n
