\"\"So we\u2019re not hitting electricity and home energy savings with this one. But nonetheless, gas and transportation cost you money. They consume energy. And their harvesting and refinement harms the earth.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re still doing the planet favors by not using transportation or gasoline any more than you have to.<\/p>\n

Speaking of which…how do you do that in 2019?<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n

  1. Smart Cars<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Smart Car transportation is being rolled out for testing, and on a limited usage basis, throughout the nation.<\/p>\n

    FoxConn\u2019s in the process of building a massive new campus outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To assist with travel, the state approved a special smart-car highway lane that runs directly from the airport south to the campus.<\/p>\n

    Other similar tests and limited usage have been rolled out throughout the nation too.<\/p>\n

    Some predict employees in major metropolitan areas will eventually not own cars at all. Instead, they\u2019ll simply purchase or rent the rights to a certain amount of smart car usage.<\/p>\n

    Be on the lookout for this in the Metroplex in the near future.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Do What You Can to Compromise with Your Work <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      You only have so much control over what job you get. So, don\u2019t beat yourself up if you can\u2019t live near your work.<\/p>\n

      However, if you can live within biking or (even better) walking distance, that\u2019s opportunity to save a lot of gas.<\/p>\n

      If that doesn\u2019t work in your situation, negotiate working from home on at least a limited basis. Your boss won\u2019t buy the \u201csaving gas\u201d argument.<\/p>\n

      But, employees who work from home are happier and more productive. See if you can negotiate a trial basis for this, and then see what your work will let you do on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n

      1. Try to Organize a Carpool <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Yes, it can be tough to share a car with other people you don\u2019t know super-well. But, you don\u2019t know how it goes unless you try it!<\/p>\n

        Let\u2019s say you have the average American commute of 16 miles one way to work. You can save about $600 in gas per year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

        The current national average gas price is around $2.395. That amounts to 250.52 gallons of gas saved per year. And, with the lesser wear on your vehicle, you\u2019ll have lower maintenance costs too.<\/p>\n

        So which of these tips works best for you? Some? All?<\/p>\n
