Yep. We\u2019re not joking. These tips are crazy. They\u2019re doable. They\u2019re extreme. And a few mixed nuts around the country actually do these things. <\/p>\n
You shouldn\u2019t feel guilty or ashamed for not doing them. But they can save energy. And who knows, if you do them just a little bit, you might find yourself having some fun! <\/p>\n
So here\u2019s some not-so-sane energy savings tips you might use: <\/p>\n
1. Install Motion-Sensored Lights…Inside Your Home<\/strong><\/p>\n Only want your lights on when you need them? Hate the fact that other family members forget to turn off the lights when not in use? <\/p>\n Well, with motion-sensor operated lights in your home, they\u2019ll join you in saving energy whether they like it or not. <\/p>\n 2. Put Your Dryer Where You Can\u2019t Reach It<\/strong><\/p>\n With stackable washing machines and dryers, you can effectively cut off your ability to dry your clothes…permanently! <\/p>\n Put your dryer up high. Find another way to dry your clothes…like your outdoor clothesline, heat registers, or basement. <\/p>\n 3. Force Your Kids to Play Outside<\/strong><\/p>\n You don\u2019t have to ban digital screens entirely. They do hold kids\u2019 (and adults\u2019 for that matter) attention like nothing else. And they\u2019re totally appropriate to use (to an extent). <\/p>\n But, draw firm boundaries around technology and digital screens. <\/p>\n Make your kids go outside. Create a scheduled family time. Not only will you save energy, but you\u2019ll improve your children\u2019s (and your own) emotional quality of life. <\/p>\n You just can\u2019t put a price on that. <\/p>\n
