How Much is Your Electricity? How Much Should It Cost?

How much do you pay for your electricity?

It’s actually relatively easy to figure out. Go back to your past bills. Add up all the costs. And divide by the number of kWh.

Calculate your total usage per month. And give yourself a 6-12 month average that includes both warm and cold months.

That should come close to your true usage average.

But, make sure you include all the fees you pay. That means things like connection fees, late charges, overusage charges, fees for paying over the phone, and any other crazy fees your current REP invents.

The national average hovers around 12 cents per kWh. Texas stays close to the national average at about 11.3 cents per kWh, according to data from the EPA.

Some media outlets have done research and have found that many Texans pay more for their electricity than they did more than 15 years ago.

Are you one of them?

What Should You Do If You Pay Too Much?

The definite positive with energy deregulation in Texas is that you now have choice. You can move on to another company if you don’t like the one you’re with.

But, the hard part is that many companies have deceptive advertising, and you don’t really know how much you pay.

Some may advertise rates as low as 2 cents per kWh. But then, once you cross an intentionally low threshold of using 1000 kWh per month, they slap you with a $200 – $250 fee.

Suddenly, your electricity costs skyrocket to 23 cents per kWh – nearly twice the national average!

Fortunately, with Pronto Power, you never pay any fees of any kind. Ever.

There’s no connection or disconnection fee. You don’t have a huge security deposit. Customer service doesn’t charge you a fee for doing their job and taking your payment over the phone.

Shoot…you don’t even have to sign a contract!

All we ask is that you put $19.99 into a prepaid account. That $19.99 goes only toward the cost of your electricity. It is not an additional fee above and beyond what you pay for your electricity.

Then, you simply prepay whatever way works best for you: monthly, weekly, or even daily if needed.

Can’t make your payment? No problem. Call customer service and we’ll be happy to help you make it through the most treacherous of financial times.
